Game Theory Quiz 1 - ENTER PLAYER 1

Welcome to the Tournament.

You are Player 1.

You will face a series of short challenges against other players. In each round you may interact with another player.

Sometimes cooperation helps.

Sometimes competition wins.

Sometimes chaos changes the game.

Your choices will reveal how you naturally play.

What kind of gamer are you?

Round 1 🍫

You and another player are given the location of a box of chocolates to share later.

You arrive first and open the box. There are more chocolates than expected.

If you eat a few now, the other player will never know how many were there.

Before they arrive, you can send them a quick message.

“I’m here. There are loads of chocolates — we’ll split them when you get here.” Then leave them untouched.

“I’m here. We’ll share them when you get here.” Then quietly eat a few chocolates.

Eat a few chocolates while waiting, not caring whether the other player finds out.

“I might eat them all before you get here 😄” Then leave them untouched.

Round 2 🧩

You and another player are competing in a puzzle challenge. The first player to solve the puzzle wins the round.

Before the challenge begins, you spot a folded instruction sheet showing the completed puzzle layout.

Reading it could let you solve the puzzle almost instantly. None of the other players have noticed it.

Just before the round starts, another player asks: "Do you know a way to solve this?"

“I saw an instruction sheet over there. Let’s read it together and solve this quickly.”

“Not yet — let’s try to figure it out.” Then secretly read the instruction sheet.

Read the instruction sheet so you know the solution. Ignore the other player.

“Oh yeah, the trick is to start from the bottom corner.” Give a useless hint, then ignore the instruction sheet yourself.

Round 3 🏃

You and other players must complete an obstacle course. One section is a maze that would take several minutes to navigate.

Earlier, you noticed a hidden gap in the maze that leads straight to an exit.

Just before the race begins, another player says: "I heard there’s a shortcut somewhere..."

Say nothing and head straight for the shortcut when the race begins.

“Pretty sure it’s over that way.” Point in a completely different direction, then run the normal route yourself.

“Yeah, I spotted it earlier. Follow me, I’ll show you.” Then take the shortcut together.

“Not sure, I didn’t see one.” Then quietly use the shortcut during the race.

Round 4 🐹

You and other players are answering questions in a quiz. Earlier you happened to read that Syrian hamsters have the largest cheeks.

A few minutes later the host asks: "Which type of hamster has the largest cheek pouches?" You know the answer immediately.

Another player leans over and quietly asks: "Any idea what it might be?"

“I actually read this earlier — it’s the Syrian hamster.”

“Not sure.” Then quietly write down Syrian hamster.

Ignore the other player and write Syrian hamster immediately.

“Pretty sure it’s the Siberian Mega-Cheeks Hamster.” Give a ridiculous answer, then write down Syrian hamster yourself.

Round 5 💰

You and another player discover a wallet containing £100. There’s no ID inside.

Just before you divide it, the other player asks: "How much is in there?"

“This probably belongs to someone.” Then hand the wallet in so neither of you keep the money.

“There’s only £50 in here.” Then give the other player £25 and keep the remaining £75 for yourself.

“£100. Let’s split it fairly.” Then divide the money equally.

“£100. I’m keeping it.” Then keep the full £100 for yourself.

Bonus Round: Moral Dilemma 🚃

While walking between challenges, you notice a runaway miniature train rolling down a track. Ahead of it are five rubber ducks tied to the rails.

Next to you is a lever that will switch the train onto another track.

However, on that track sits one large toy goose wearing a tiny crown.

You have a moment to act. What do you do?

Pull the lever and sacrifice the goose to save the five ducks.

Do nothing and let the train continue towards the ducks.

Jump onto the train and try to stop it yourself.

Salute the goose and whisper “Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.”

Round 6 🏋️

You and other players must carry a heavy sandbag across a field. After that, everyone must walk a mile to the finish line.

You notice a pile of loose rocks nearby. Adding a few rocks to another player’s sandbag would make it heavier — and leave them more tired for the mile ahead.

As players begin lifting their sandbags, another player says: "This thing is heavier than I expected…"

“Let’s carry them properly and get through this together.” Then help others complete their challenge before beginning the mile walk.

While no one is looking, slip a few rocks into another player’s sandbag.

Carry your sandbag and focus on finishing as quickly as possible.

“Let’s try a different approach.” Gather all your strength and attempt to throw it across the field like a javelin.

Round 7 🏗️

You and other players must complete a simple building challenge.

Each player receives a small pile of wooden blocks. The goal is to build the tallest stable tower.

Before the round begins, you notice an extra block lying nearby that no one seems to have claimed. Taking it would give your tower a small advantage.

As players start building, another player asks: "Are we all starting with the same number of blocks?"

Pick up the extra block and balance it on top of your head like a crown while you build.

“Looks like it.” Then quietly add the extra block to your own pile.

“Yes — we should all use the same number.” Then leave the extra block where it is.

Take the extra block and add it to your tower without comment.

Round 8 🚪

You and other players must choose one of three doors. Only one door leads directly to the finish.

Earlier, you overheard someone say that the left door is the correct one.

Just before the round begins, another player asks: "Do you know which door is right?"

“Yes — it’s the left door.” Then show the other player which one is correct.

“That one’s right.” Point to the door on the right, then choose the left door yourself.

Say nothing and go straight through the left door.

Walk up to the middle door, knock loudly and shout “KNOCK KNOCK! WHO’S THERE?”

Round 9 🧗

Players must climb a tall wall to reach the next stage.

It’s possible to climb it alone, but it would be much easier if two players helped each other.

Another player turns to you and says: "Want to team up and get over this together?"

“Sure — we’ll both get over faster.” Then help each other climb the wall.

“Sounds good.” Then use their help to get over the wall first and leave them behind.

“No thanks.” Attempt to climb the wall on your own.

Take a running start and attempt to sprint vertically — straight up the wall like Sonic the Hedgehog.

Final Round 🏁

You and another player are approaching the finish line of the final challenge.

You are both exhausted after completing the previous rounds. You realise that either of you could reach the line first with one last burst of effort.

The other player looks at you and says: "Looks like it’s between us."

“Let’s finish this together.” Then slow down slightly so you both cross the line at the same time.

“Let’s finish this together.” Then sprint at the last moment to cross the line first.

Say nothing and sprint for the finish line as fast as possible.

Start moonwalking towards the finish line instead. Entertaining yourself and everyone else feels more important than winning the race.
